Wakefield Primary Academy Child Presented With Premier League Primary Stars

A child from Wakefield has received an award and national recognition for her hard work and resilience in education.

Megan Lee, aged seven, who attends Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane, was nominated by two of her teachers at Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane for recognition of her hard work in PE, and her resilience, perseverance and enthusiasm.

Megan was presented with her award for being inspiring, at an assembly in front of her schoolmates and family, by Jordan and Matt from Premier League Primary Stars, an initiative by the English Premier League.

In addition to her award, Jordan and Matt also presented Megan with tickets for the Leeds United v QPR game that occurred earlier this month.

At the game, Megan was invited onto the pitch prior to kick-off to be involved with pre-match warm-ups and activities, while Megan was also a flag waver as the players emerged from the tunnel to begin the game.

Megan, who attended the game at Elland Road with her family, said: “I was so proud of myself because me and my family got to go to see a Leeds Match. I am really thankful to Miss Stocks and Mr Philips for nominating me for it, I really enjoy my PE lessons and I always want to try and do my best.

“The Leeds match was absolutely fantastic, I really enjoyed it. It was great being out on the pitch and meeting the players, and I loved meeting Lucas the Kop Cat.”

Rachael Skirrow, Principal at Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane, said: “We are all so thrilled for Megan, she was so deserving of this award. Her efforts in PE have been fantastic and we are all proud of her.”
