Tennis Twins Ace Area Tennis Competition
Twins from Outwood Academy Easingwold have continued their amazing sporting success by winning the Area Tennis Championships, after their record breaking success at the qualifying tournament.
Georgia and Milly Ainley, Year 10 students at York Road-based secondary school, representing Hambleton and Richmond won their doubles match against Scarborough and Ryedale 6-4. They both also won their singles games, with Georgia winning 6-4 and Milly winning 6-2.
Their success at the tournament held at Ryedale School means Georgia and Milly are now the U15 Area Tennis Champions.
Speaking about their tremendous success, Georgia said: “We are both absolutely delighted to have won the Area Tennis Championships. It’s always great fun when I get to compete with Milly and I am so happy we were able to play well and win.”
Milly added: “Both Georgia and I just love tennis and being able to compete alongside my sister. I was thrilled when we won, it feels so special being the U15 Area Tennis Champions!”
The girls qualified for the Area Championships after winning their doubles tournament at Queen Mary’s School on 22nd May. In doing so, Georgia and Milly became the first female doubles partnership to win the Hambleton and Richmond area competition without losing a single game.
Laura Robson, PE teacher at Outwood Academy Easingwold, said: “We are so happy for Georgia and Milly. What they have achieved is absolutely amazing, and we could not be prouder of them.
