Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth and Outwood Academy Redcar have welcomed Channel 4’s initiative aimed at inspiring school students to explore careers in TV and broadcasting.

Middlesbrough schools have praised a “life-changing” careers programme that gave students an expert insight into the world of work. Forty students from the town’s secondary schools have completed the Skills For Life programme, which aims to spark imagination and ambition in young people.

Students and staff at Outwood Academy Adwick have raised more than £1,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust after a charity event. The ‘Forever 19’ event was held in memory of Joseph Lunn and Lulu Blundell, who both passed away at age 19 after battling cancer.

Students from Outwood Academy Riverside will be performing on stage at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, on 24 April with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Outwood Academy Valley in Worksop, has been recognised for its outstanding careers work this week. The school has achieved the national Quality in Careers Standard awarded under licence by Ixion (Part of the Shaw Trust Group).

Ian Cooper, Principal at Outwood Academy Hasland Hall, will be running in this year’s London Marathon on 23 April.

Outwood Academy Kirkby has officially been named the first VX Regional Centre of Excellence after a launch event at the school in March. It joins the National Centre of Excellence which is based in Ripon, North Yorkshire.

An ambitious 8-year-old will be cycling 127 miles over 3 days to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association.
