Local Primary Children Visit Community Centre To Spread Festive Cheer

Children from a primary academy in Wakefield have attended a local community centre to help spread festive cheer amongst the wider community.

The children, all from Outwood Primary Academy Park Hill, attended the Eastmoor Community Centre, based at St Swithun’s Centre, to meet with members of the community and take in a visit from Santa.

Along with OPA Principal, Mrs Alyson Million, the children met with members of the local church, parents, councillors, local PCSOs and youth workers who all work with closely with the academy, as well taking part in craft activities and competitions, producing some excellent Christmas crafts.

Alyson Million said:

“I was delighted with the children’s behaviour when we attended the Christmas Event at The Eastmoor Community Centre. They were a credit to the academy and you could see they really enjoyed mixing with members of the local community.

“At OPA Park Hill, we enjoy close links with our community and we regularly do cross-generational work with an over 55 group called Simply Leisure. Here the children will share stories with the community members, chat and play games and it’s a really rewarding experience for all involved.

“At Outwood we believe in having strong links in the communities we are fortunate enough to serve and events like this are a great way of putting that belief into action.”

Earlier in the week, the School Parliament members at OPA Park Hill had visited the community centre to help put up Christmas Trees.

The Eastmoor Community Centre is at the St Swithun’s Community Centre and is home to the Eastmoor Community Project Ltd.
