Children Take To The Stage At Sheffield Octagon For SHINE Event

Children from all ten primaries sponsored by Outwood Grange Academies Trust have taken part in a celebration event at a prestigious venue in Sheffield.

To mark the end of the school year, children from all ten Outwood Grange Primary Academies took part in the ‘Outwood Primary Shine’ event. The event was held at the Octagon Centre, at the University of Sheffield.

The celebration of singing event included over 200 children all producing magical performances as the choir from each of the 10 Outwood primary academies took turns to wow the audience.

Lee Wilson, Chief Executive (Primary) at Outwood Grange Academies Trust, said: “The event was absolutely amazing and the performances from the children were simply incredible.

“I am, along with the rest of the staff, just so proud of the children tonight. Not only were their performances of the highest order, but the standard of behaviour was impeccable. Each performance was listened to and appreciated, and the behaviour of the children both at the events and while travelling, was again first-class.

“At Outwood Grange Academies Trust, we believe in putting children first, raising standards and transforming lives. Celebration events like this help us cement this vision by allowing children to express themselves.”

Over the past months, choirs across all Outwood primary academies had been rehearsing songs and performances for the celebratory event.

On the day of the event, the ten academies were brought together in the world class Octagon Centre and over the course of the day, worked together to rehearse their performances as well as a special Trust-wide finale.

With a little help from the Outwood Directors of Arts, along with the teachers and secondary aged students who were there to support on the day, the choirs came together beautifully to produce a fantastic evening’s entertainment.

Lee added: “Outwood Primary Shine was an opportunity to bring together the individual choirs of the ten academies and join them together in a single arts moment. The children presented a brilliant collection of songs, with some tremendous performances, and the finale at the end was spectacular, it was brilliant to see all the choirs performing together, as one.”

The academies that took part in the event were Outwood Primary Academy Bell Lane, Outwood Primary Academy Darfield , Outwood Primary Academy Greystone, Outwood Primary Academy Kirkhamgate, Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane, Outwood Primary Academy Littleworth Grange, Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate, Outwood Primary Academy Newstead Green, Outwood Primary Academy Park Hill, and Outwood Junior Academy Brumby.
