OA Easingwold Named In Sunday Times Schools Guide 2021

A secondary academy in Easingwold has been named as one of the top 20 best schools in the North by the Sunday Times for the second consecutive year.

Outwood Academy Easingwold was ranked as the 14th best school in the North and the 235th best school overall in the country. The same rankings it received in the previous edition of the Guide.

The rankings in the secondary school league tables are determined by the percentage of examination entries gaining A* to B grades at A-Level last summer and the percentage of entries returning A* and A grades, and those graded 9, 8, 7, at GCSE and iGCSE.

Laura Eddery, Principal of Outwood Academy Easingwold, said:

“We are unbelievably proud to have once again been named in Sunday Times Schools Guide 2021 as one of the top schools in the country.

“We sincerely believe in our vision of students first and working hard to raise standards and transform the lives of our students. Being recognised for this is brilliant and a real testament to the outstanding work done by our amazing staff at Outwood Academy Easingwold.”

The academy’s impressive 2020 GCSE and A-Level grades played a significant role in its high ranking in the Guide, as well as making Outwood Academy Easingwold one of the highest performing sixth forms in North Yorkshire.

The inclusion of the York Road-based secondary academy on the list comes shortly after it announced the completion of a £2.5m sports project that includes a new sports hall and 3G sports pitch, which will be available for the local community to hire out when government guidelines allow.

Laura added:

“Without doubt this year has been a tough one for everyone, but to be named in The Sunday Times Schools Guide is a real positive to end the year on. We are excited to continue on working hard for our students in 2021.”
