OA City Fields Holds Collection For Local Community

A secondary academy based in Wakefield has held a collection for a local food bank as part of the run up to Christmas.

Outwood Academy City Fields, based on Warmfield View, launched a collection to help raise much needed supplies for the Eastmoor Community Project Foodbank based at St Swithuns community centre.

Michelle Colledge-Smith, Principal at Outwood Academy City Fields, said:

“This year has been a tremendously difficult year for everyone, so we wanted to do something in the run up to Christmas that could help those in our community who need it.

“I was thrilled to see incredible support across the academy for our collection and I am proud of our students for their community spirit they have shown.

“We are delighted that we were able to make a significant donation.”

The Eastmoor Community Project was established in 1998 and is based at St Swithuns Community Centre. A small voluntary organisation, it aims to encourage community involvement and participation in the local community area.

Christine Bann, Manager at Eastmoor Community Project Limited, said: “From the staff and volunteers at Eastmoor Community Project, we would like to thank the students of Outwood Academy City Fields and their parents for donating their Christmas Jumper Day donations to our foodbank at St. Swithun’s Community Centre.

“We were overwhelmed by their generosity and delighted that we could support families in our Eastmoor community with these gifts. Well done everyone and thank you, we look forward to working with you in the New Year.”
