Outwood Family Celebrate Students’ GCSE Success

Following the 2020 GCSE results day, the Outwood Family is once again celebrating the success of its students, who in the face of uncertainty brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic continued to show a stoic determination to keep on going.

There was success across the Outwood Family, with an impressive 55% of students gaining grade 5 or above in English and maths, and 73% achieving grade 4 or above in both subjects.

All Outwood students received grades that were inline with the centre assessed grades, which had been closely moderated and standardised across the Trust.

Each Outwood Family’s secondary academy was filled with the success stories of its students, and you can see each of these by visiting the Outwood Family’s social media pages.

Julie Slater, Chief Executive (Secondary) at the Outwood Family, said:

“We are beyond proud of our brilliant GCSE students and the young people they have become. Despite all 2020 has thrown at them, they have continued to focus on their studies, displaying a determined attitude which I know many of our staff have found inspirational.

“At Outwood, we sincerely believe ourselves to be a family and we are driven by putting students first, raising standards and transforming lives.

“The bond between staff and students is a strong one and I know many of our staff will agree with me when I say that we wish our 2019-2020 GCSE students nothing but the best for the future. If they continue to apply themselves, and work hard, there is nothing they cannot achieve. We look forward to seeing their continued success in the future.”

One of the highlights from across the Outwood Family was the continued success of Outwood Academy Valley, where 84% of the students achieved a grade 4 in English and maths.

The academy also welcomed the Independent newspaper to cover the celebrations when students arrived to collect their GCSE results. You can read the article here.

Another success was Outwood Academy Normanby, which was its first GCSE results day as part of the Outwood Family since opening last September.

Outwood Academy Adwick was another academy to welcome the press in to join in the celebrations. The success of the academy has been covered by ITV, the Daily Express, Doncaster Free Press and Yorkshire Post.
