OA Valley Student Celebrates Sporting Success

Talented athlete Kitty Laurence, a year 8 student at Outwood Academy Valley, is celebrating a successful day at the Nottinghamshire County Championships, at Harvey Hadden Stadium.

On a sunny day, Kitty, who competes for Worksop Harriers & AC, was in terrific form as she took gold in two events and finished 2nd and 5th in two others.

Kitty’s two golds came in the high jump and 200m. The high jump contest saw Kittle register clear the impressive height of 1.43m, and this success has seen her rise up to 9th in the national ranking for the event. In the 200m, Kitty clocked a time of 29.90s to finish 0.70s ahead of Amy Clayton in 2nd place.

In the 70m hurdles, Kitty finished in second place behind Lucy Ashton and in the 100m Kitty came fifth with a respectable time of 14.8s.

“I was really happy with my performance on the day and was thrilled to come back with two wins. I love competing and really enjoyed being a part of Nottinghamshire County Championships.”
