World Book Day Appeal

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation has formulated a partnership with ‘MY Hospitals Charity’, for the benefit of Pinderfields Hospital ahead of World Book Day 2023. 

MY Hospitals Charity supports and enhances the services provided by The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which provides care to over half a million people every year in their homes, in the community and across three hospital sites. 

World Book Day is celebrated this year on Thursday 2nd March 2023. Each year, the Foundation try to run an inclusive event in schools for event, however this year, have decided to take a different approach.  

The Foundation, will be asking supporters, sponsors and partnered schools to assist in a ‘Book Collection’, with all books donated over this period going to the Children’s Ward at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.  

Outwood Grange Academies Trust has partnered with the Foundation, running donation collections at its Wakefield based primary academies, listed below.

  • OPA Bell Lane

  • OPA Greenhill

  • OPA Kirkhamgate

  • OPA Ledger Lane

  • OPA Lofthouse Gate

  • OPA Newstead Green

  • OPA Park Hill

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation will be running a collection at the next home game against Huddersfield Giants on Friday 2nd March 2023, with any book donations being greatly appreciated, and can be handed in at the three collection points highlighted below. 

- Club on-site stadium ticket office 

- West Stand Turnstiles 

- North Stand Turnstiles 

Once the collections have taken place, they will be handing all of the books over to MY Hospitals Charity with the support of the Wakefield Trinity First Team. 

Speaking on the initiative, Head of Education & Health, Luke Shale, said, “We are delighted to bring  together all of the Wakefield community, including our 20+ partnered schools, to help MY Hospitals  Charity collect reading material for the children of the Pinderfields Hospital. 

“Using the brand of the club, the Foundation is all about making a difference and what better way of  doing this than using the power of World Book Day. 

“All support on this project is much appreciated and we can’t wait to see what gets brought in!”
