 Working at Outwood - Paul Foster

I’m Paul Foster, Vice Principal at Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane and I’ve been part of the Outwood Family since 2018 working at Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate, Outwood Primary Academy Littleworth Grange, Outwood Primary Academy Darfield and Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane

What do you find most rewarding about working for Outwood?

I think the fact that we work in such a positive and supportive culture is most rewarding. We are all working together, constantly striving for excellence in terms of pupil knowledge, skills and attitudes.

The culture also breeds confidence in speaking up about possible improvements and ideas because we are trusted to make suggestions to improve and evolve the curriculum to suit our pupils' needs.

What CPD opportunities have you been involved with so far?

I’ve been involved with quite a lot, as there are so many available to us.

There is such a range of courses to get involved with. For example some of the courses I’ve undertaken are Mental Health Lead, Safeguarding lead, Physical intervention and de escalation, Curriculum development; leading NPQ Middle Leadership sessions.

What is one of the highlights of your time with Outwood?

One of the major highlights for me is being given the freedom to make suggestions regarding, and take a lead with, the development of our Mental Health provision for pupils. It is such an important issue and it is really rewarding.
