Tennis Twins Serve Up Record Success

Twins from a secondary school in Easingwold have become the first female doubles partnership to win the Hambleton and Richmond area competition without losing a single game.

Georgia and Milly Ainley, Year 10 students at Outwood Academy Easingwold, attended the tennis tournament at Queen Mary’s School on 22nd May. The tournament was a doubles tournament, and saw the Ainley superstars play six matches, each consisting of five games.

As well as Georgia and Milly, the other teams involved were Queen Mary’s School A, Queen Mary’s School B, Stokesley A, Stokesley, and Richmond and Northallerton.

As a result of their tremendous success, Georgia and Milly have been selected to play in the Hambleton and Richmond team at the North Yorkshire Tournament. The tournament will be held at Ampleforth College on Thursday 20th June.

Speaking about their success, Georgia said: “I am so happy that we were able to play well and win the tournament. Being able to do it without losing a game was something special and I am so excited to represent Hambleton and Richmond at the North Yorkshire Tournament.”

Milly added: “Both Georgia and I just love tennis and being able to compete. We were delighted with how we played at Queen Mary’s School and I can’t wait to get to play with my sister again at the North Yorkshire Tournament.”

Laura Robson, PE teacher at Outwood Academy Easingwold, said: “We are so proud of Georgia and Milly. What they have achieved so far is fantastic.

“At Outwood Academy Easingwold, we believe in putting students first, raising standards and transforming lives. To do this, we aim to support every student in reaching their full potential, both in and outside the classroom.

“We are delighted to see Georgia and Milly doing so well, and we look forward to supporting them in the North Yorkshire Tournament. Good luck girls!”
