New website is launched for National Institute of Teaching

In May 2022, the Government announced the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) - England's new research hub and teacher and leader training and development provider.  Founded by four of the country's most respected school trusts (Outwood Grange Academies Trust, The Harris Federation, Star Academies and Oasis Community Learning), it is rooted in schools, for schools.

The Institute will boost the quality of teacher and leader development by generating and interpreting research, applying the insights of the design and delivery of its programmes, and sharing it all with the sector.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is proud to be a founding trust of the National Institute of Teaching, and we are excited to share the new NIoT website with you.

Some of the new features of the website include:

  • Explore the new fully immersive School Direct programme for those wishing to become a teacher in 2023 and beyond (apprenticeship route also available to those in non-teaching roles).

  • Develop your professional knowledge with the NIoT's full suite of NPQ programmes, and apply to start in February 2023

  • Examine the latest research projects and findings, and how this will inform the programmes we offer

NIoT training will be delivered through four regional campuses. Each will be supported by one of the four founding Trusts. Critical to the design and delivery of the programmes will be the regional ‘Associate Colleges’, school groups with strong track records and the capacity and expertise required to deepen and extend the impact of the NIoT. Alongside its rich and diverse network of schools, the NIoT is drawing in expertise from a range of organisations. Together these partners will extend the reach of the NIoT so that teachers in areas that serve some of the most disadvantaged communities can access its offer. Partners are listed in the notes to editors.

Simply visit the NIoT website and be sure to register your details to stay up to date with all of the latest news and developments.
