OPA Alne Donates To Easingwold Foodbank

Easingwold Foodbank has thanked a local primary school after it made a large donation thanks to the kindness of the school’s community.

Outwood Primary Academy Alne, based on Main Street in Alne, asked all those who could, to donate any dried or tinned goods as part of the school’s Harvest celebrations for Easingwold District Community Care Association Food Bank.

The school had amazing success with the collection, with an incredible 20 bags being filled to the brim with food and goods being handed over to the foodbank.

After receiving the sizable donation, Frank Johnston-Banks and Sam Wilson of Easingwold Foodbank wrote to the school to thank them for their generosity.

In their letter, the duo said: “Easingwold Foodbank wishes to say a great big thank you for all the wonderful food that you donated to us from your Harvest Festival.

“We are all so very grateful to you for your kindness to local people to help stop them being hungry.

“The food and toiletries that you kindly donated will all be given to local families and children who need help during the cold winter months and for Christmas.”

Michelle Dawson, Principal at Outwood Primary Academy Alne, said:

“We are very thankful to all those who contributed towards our collection and donation. Their generosity will only serve to help someone who needs it as we enter what is likely to be a difficult time of year for some people.”
