Outwood Primary Academy Bell Lane Donates To Local Foodbank

A primary academy based in Pontefract has made a donation to the local foodbank, Pontefract Foodbank, after appealing to the academy and wider community for donations.

Outwood Primary Academy Bell Lane, based on Bell Lane in Ackworth, Pontefract, were collecting donations as part of the academy’s harvest celebrations, after children returned to the academy last month.

The Pontefract Foodbank is run by the Trussell Trust, which is the largest network of food banks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis.

Rebecca Hewitt, Principal at Outwood Primary Academy Bell Lane, said:

“I was thrilled with the reaction we received from the academy community and wider community members when we announced we were collecting food to donate to our local foodbank.

“At Outwood we believe in playing an active role in the communities we are proud to serve, and we want to be there to help those who need it most. This is just an example of this and I am looking forward to doing more over the rest of the academic year so we can hopefully help anyone and everyone we can.”

A letter of gratitude received from the Pontefract Food Bank stated: “Without the generous donations from the public, we would struggle to continue the vital work of helping families in need - a great big thank you to all of the Outwood Primary Academy Bell Lane community for your kindness and generosity.”
